I have decided to participate in the national Czech Day for Cancer. It was a heart-warming feeling to be able to help out, even though there were a couple of unpleasant experiences.

The day began early for us, as we had to be at school at 7 AM. We received the flower pins, the iconic T-shirt and a money bag. We were until the first lesson started selling the flowers to everyone we met at school. Afterwards we had only four lessons while we kept on offering during breaks. Then we went out to the streets. Although it fell slightly embarrassing and rude to bother everyone who walked by, there were some people, who were very nice to us. Those people were the best. It always makes you happy seeing kindness in the world. Obviously, I have expected the unwelcoming behaviour. It was mostly just people who completely ignored us, but one case stuck in my mind. It was and older lady standing on a corner. We politely asked her if she was interested in buying a flower. She said she would normally buy them, because she was used to the ribbon being white. But since this year it was light blue she refused to get them. She said those are the colours of the Ukrainian flag she didn´t want it. We were so shocked and disgusted that we just left.

Even though some unpleasant experiences happened, it was a heart-warming feeling to be able to help.
