About:

On the 21st December there was a project called “Energie” taking place in our school where we were learning all sorts or stuff connected with energy or physics. The whole event was connected to energy of any kind from nuclear to acoustic energy. The thing that connected every activity was collecting steps in app for charity.

Younger students stayed at school to visit different subjects and their energy vision: literature Prašina, history: important inventions, PE: rowing simulators, art: different techniques of painting, chemistry and physics: experiments.

Students of older classes could choose from experiments in laboratory, to boxing or ever literature. There were different kinds of activities: such as visiting: laboratory experiments, DEPO, a can factory, wastewater treatment plant, waste incinerating plant, organ in Pilsen cathedral… You would register through an online questionnaire which you have gotten in an email. There were red, green and blue activities, red being a trip outside school, blue some type of experiments and green a mix.

Students also collected steps for the app “Pomáhej pohybem (Help with movement)”. They chose a charity project and donated their movement to a good and meaningful activity and charity.

PRIMA – TERCIE

Our youngest students dealt with energy in various subjects at school. All together they had 4 different stopovers: PE, Czech language, Art and History.

In the morning, two classes from each ear competed in rowing on simulators. Not only that they could support the class spirit but also they could see how much energy is given away while doing something demanding.

The Czech language followed – the students have the puzzle to solve: knowing the famous book “Prašina” they have some clues in the corridor and they have to find the answer to a question.

History stopover offered several activities. The first one was a time axe and the competition – “What was first? – Students have to order in time all the inventions somehow “bounding” energy. They also had pictures and a map of places with technical inventions in our region. There also was a text to put together with famous people connected with energy and also a puzzle “Match two together”.

The last stop of the day was art and different techniques in the art. Students even bound fire to use it in the painting – crackers and effects with them.

All the students were excited, participating with enthusiasm and enjoyed the whole PROJECT DAY “Den Energie”.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – ENERGY PROJECT DAY AT SCHOOL

I went to school. Everybody must have clothes for sport. In the gym there are manes that you must pull – rowing simulation. We must compete with the other prima. The boys in my class competed against the boys of the other class. Then the girls of two classes competed against each other – 1 km rowing. After that boys and girls were mixed and they competed against boys and girls of prima B. The boys in my class wont the first round and the girls in my class won the second round, we were leading two pints but then the teacher said who wins the mixed round gets two points. We lost so it was a draw. Then there was another competition. We won and got a candy as a reward.

Then we went up to the third floor to meet a teacher in the classroom. He told us to line up from the oldest to the youngest one. He split us into groups of five. The he told us to go outside to find pictures of famous writers and we must answer the questions in the pictures. Then we must find in the words a name. We went to another room there we played some history games and quizzes. We also had an art lesson. Then the bell rang to end. Then we went home.

KVARTY - KVINTY

On December 21 2024, we participated in activities organized within our project day called „The Energy Day“. The individual classes had they own programmes.

We were supposed to return to our labs. During the first lesson, a half of our class had the chance to first witness and then attempt chemical reactions where measurable energy was to be spotted. For example, we could hear a loud bang when energy was released; or observe movement of particles when two or more elements reacted.  After the initial moments of surprise or sometimes shock, we enjoyed the bangs most as they reminded us of the sound of fireworks.

The other half spent their 45 minutes in the biology lab. Students had a wonderful chance to penetrate into the mysteries of photosynthesis. In the series of activities we found the evidence of how the energy of the sunshine transforms into the energy of other chemical bonds. The whole process is complicated, of course. However, the laboratory work confirmed that the sunshine, as the primary energy source is vital and essentially important.

After three quarters of an hour the halves switched.

When the laboratory parts were over, a rather theoretical part followed. A professional trainer came to give a talk on ´technology (or digital) literacy´. During a two hour lecture we were supposed to learn about the skills and knowledge which are required to effectively use the technology tools and resources. The first part of the talk focused mostly on comparison of traditional and electric engines (cars). Only after about 50 minutes we briefly touched E-safety, artificial intelligence, 5G and IOT (internet of things). Maybe it could have been even more beneficial and interesting if the two parts of this talk were swapped, as far as the time spent on them is concerned.

STUDENTS OPINIONS AND COMMENTS:
At first I wasn´t really sure about it, but it was actually really fun and I enjoyed it. I am definitely for another project like this one.

The whole project was great and I enjoyed it. I hope there will be another one nest year.

We had the best time ever. We were able to discover so many things about the public transportation, which we didn´t even think of.

If I have to give it points out of then, I would probably give it 8 points. I really liked it, next time I would appreciate more explanation for non-trams experts, though.

I was talking with my friends about this nice “Energie project”. We agreed, that we would appreciate more projects like this one. If gave us a lot of interesting information. I must say, that this “Projektový den” was very good.

From my point of view, it was really nice project. We saw another interesting place and made something good for our body. The next year, there should be another project day. I will be happy if we have another day. Next year, I would like to go to some historic museum.

PROJECT DAY „ENERGIE“ – CAN FACTORY BALL

Last week before Christmas there was a project day called “ENERGY” at my school. There were several workshops to choose from, that we participated in on that day. Some workshops were at school, the other ones were on other interesting places around Pilsen.

Me and my friends choose to visit the can factory in Borská pole. When we arrived there, we saw a short presentation about the history of the can company “Ball” and also about the process of building this new factory in Pilsen. I was quite shocked, that this factory can make up to 2.5 million aluminium cans a day and it is one of the most modern ones in the world. Most of these cans are sent to Germany or used in the Czech Republic.

After the presentation, we were able to see the factory inside too. The cans are actually made pretty fast, which was surprising for us too.

I must say I enjoyed that day and I definitely learnt something new. I had no idea, that there is such a huge modern factory really close to the city centre before. I can recommend it to visit and I am looking forward to the next school excursion.

PROJECT DAY „ENERGIE“ – DEPO PMDP

Before Christmas on 21st December, I was on the trip to the tram Depo. We were there with Mrs. Vachovcová a Mrs. Tolletová. Our sightseeing starts at nine o´clock and our guide was really nice.

First, we saw the modern reception of the administrative building. Then the guide show us a big schedule, where the numbers of trams, the drivers´ names were and also when it the tram set off. Then he took us to the big depo, where we saw a lot of trams and how they park. We also visited the historical trams there. At the end of our tour, we saw the process of cleaning the vehicles. Our surprise was, that we could see the old Christmas tram, which had a really bad accident before Christmas on Plaská Street.

In my opinion, it was a great excursion and we can repeat it. For me it was the best choice from all excursions, because I´m interested in transport. And I also collected some points for the charity at the ČEZ application.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

On the 21st December I participated in a so called Project day that our school was organising. Everyone had chosen one or two activities which they then took a part in for most of the day.

I chose to visit the Wastewater treatment plant in Pilsen. We met up at with our supervising teacher at around 9 o´clock. We then went to the area where we were given an instructor and also yellow vests. We went on a tour throughout the exterior. We were shown the places of cleaning which water undergoes before it goes back into the river. We were informed and reminded of the rules concerning what you may and must not throw into the toilet bowl.

After the tour was done, we went on a walk around the Bolevec Lake to collect points for a charity project our school took a part in. The weather was chilly and so we went to a café that was situated near the pond.

It was an enhancing excursion and generally a pleasant way to spend your day.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – THE ORGAN

On the project day, me and my friend went to St. Bartholomew´s Cathedral in Pilsen. We actually wanted to go to the observatory but it was already full. At 8 o´clock we gathered in front of the main entrance and waited for our teachers to arrive. After they arrived we went up the long spiral stairs to the first floor where the organ was placed.

The organist played some songs on the organs for us and told us some interesting facts about it. He also mentioned how he had become an organist and that he had studied in Austria. Then we went downstairs to the ground floor, to the main part of the Cathedral. The guide showed us around and then we sat down on the benches and she described the main statue of Mary and baby Jesus which was placed all the way in the front. She also mentioned that in one of the windows with the holy people in, there´s Donald Duck hidden somewhere, which was funny.

We then went for a short walk around the town to collect some more points for the app which I then donated to a dog shelter in Prague.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – THE OBSERVATORY

On the project day devoted to energy I visited the Observatory in Pilsen.

At 9am we met the teachers at the bus stop and then we went to the Observatory. The first part of the excursion was a lecture talking about the deep universe. The lecturer was talking really in details about stars, galaxies, constellations and much more. I found this lecture really interesting and I learned a lot of new information about the universe.

In the second part of the program we parted into two groups. One group went to their small planetarium where we could watch the night sky and we also learned some of the constellations. The second group went to look at the telescope. The lecturer told us how the telescope works. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather we couldn´t observe the Sun. Then the groups switched.

Since I am interested in the universe I found this excursion really interesting and I am pleased that I could be a part of it.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – WASTE INCINERATION PLANT

On the 21 of December our school organized a project day. The main theme of it was energy. Students could choose between different activities such as excursions or lectures. I chose and excursion to a waste incineration plant located in Chotíkov. We went there by bus. We met up at the bus station next to the central station in Pilsen.

We had to be there at 7.45. Our bus number 323 arrived on time, so the transportation went smoothly. The ride was a little over 20 minutes long. We got off the bus and walked for about 8 minutes because the bus stop isn´t right next to the plant. After our arrival we were given protective helmets and reflective vests for our own safety during the tour of the waste incineration plant. Our guide showed us the control room, boiler room and a lot more. He also told us about the history of the waste incineration.

I really enjoyed the excursion because I learned a lot of new things about energy and ways of processing waste.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – WORKOUT AND EXPERIMENTS

Our school has organized a full day of activities, experiments and tours through famous places in Pilsen. This day was named “Den Energie” and I believe it was the first time that the school organized this type of project for students.

Firstly, one week before the project students got an email to choose from several activities and tours, which one they want and in which one are interested in. I chose physical experiments and fitness and workout. The presence of girls at the experiments pleasantly surprised me. We were able to see experiments with condenser and statics experiment. Another great experiment was with liquid nitrogen. The educator dropped some cookies into a bowl with liquid nitrogen where the cookies were “cooked” and we could eat them. It sounds crazy and scary. However, it was actually funny and yummy. The second chosen activity was with professional fitness trainer, who taught us how to properly workout, eat and take care of our body to get into a shape and be as healthy as possible. After a workout at gym and a workout with our own weight we were taught how to properly stretch to relax muscles and to avoid injuries.

To summarize, the whole idea of the day was a good opportunity to get to know students from other classes. One thing I unfortunately have to point out is the singing-up system. The option from ten activities was adequate, however, the capacity of activities and tours is obviously small. Nevertheless, it would be agreeable to extend it.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – QUIZ AND EXPERIMENTS

On the 21st December our school organized a project day called The Day of Energy. Every student picked either 1 outdoor program or 2 shorter indoor programs based on their interests. I chose the second option because I prefer staying at school.

The first part was called Quiz + Temperament + Help with Movement. We got divided into groups and rotated between the three subparts. My group started with the temperament test followed by walking around the school to collect points in a ČEZ charity application. Lastly, we took a literature quiz and moved on to the next program.

In the second part we observed some experiments with electricity and liquid nitrogen. Although the lecture was led by a college professor, everything was easy to understand and even fun!

Overall, I really enjoyed this project day and I am looking forward to the next one.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – LECTURE AND EXPERIMENTS

On the project day 2023 I took part in the presentation about radioactivity. It was really interesting. We were sitting there for about two hours straight. I thought that two ours of sitting and just listening would be really boring, but it wasn´t. The teacher that was talking about radioactivity even brought some examples of things that had radioactivity in it. Then we had a 15 minute break.

After that I went to the classroom with physical experiments. There was another teacher that showed us some interesting experiments with liquid nitrogen. We were even putting our fingertips in to nitrogen which was pretty cool. The he froze a tangerine, so that was pretty breath-taking, then he froze a Bebe biscuit in the liquid nitrogen and he said that we could eat it. I was really amazed by all of these experiments. I really enjoyed the project day.

PROJECT DAY “ENERGIE” – BOXING AND TEMPERAMENT TEST

During the project day that was devoted to energy, I decided to stay and participate in the school activities. In the first part of the day, I chose the literature and temperament test. In my opinion, the literature test was a bit difficult, but at the end you learned something new and useful.

When I was choosing this activity, I was very excited about the temperament test, because you don´t get to do the test on a daily bases accurately. Thanks to this test, I learned what type of temperament I and even had a great time doing it.

In the next part of the day, I was learning about how to work-out properly and effectively because I chose as my second part of the day fitness and box training. We had a professional trainer at our disposition, who showed us and told us all about the rights and wrongs in moving out. I was learning this activity more confident and pleased with myself.

Overall, I enjoyed the project day very much and would gladly do it again.
