These were some of the reactions on our victory in chess tournament. Everything started in Techmania on 17th March. There were 35 teams from 23 schools. Record! We nominated three teams – one – elementary schools, and two teams in high schools category. Despite a strong opposing teams our ambitions and expectations were high.

Our youngest team proved to be absolutely dominant and lost only one point out of 24 games. They were not stopped even by two strong teams from church grammar school. Individual results: Makar Honcharov PB – 6/6 (6 points out of 6 games), Viktoriia Strazhnyk SA – 6/6, Minh Khoi Tran TB – 5/6, Šimon Prach SA – 6/6. Our team members are one year younger than the rest of the players.

Our older B team didn´t stay behind. Their individual results were following: Leonard Mastný KIA – 3/6, Jakub Soukup 3.B – 2/6, Eduard Plic OKB – 3/6, Antonín Mik KIA – 3/6. Our A team scored second and passed to higher level. The individual results were: Artem Mametev KIA – 4,5/6, Dominik Veličkov OKB – 6/6, Vojtěch Hodl OKB – 5,5/6, Ema Urválková 1.B – 3/6.

The great fight continued in regional round. Unfortunately our youngest team scored second behing Church grammar school with the same points only one score weaker. Our older team proved to be the best. We have gold and silver medals from regional round. We are the only school from Pilsen region to have two teams in both categories in the republic final.

We would like to thank all players for great performance. Above all, Šimon Prach, 2SA is worth mentioning. He won 12 out of 13 games and he became the best player. This performance seems to be even more unique considering this to be the very first tournament that Šimon has ever participated. Makar Honcharov was also the best player. The performance of Victoria Strazhnyk needs to be mentioned as well as she is the master of the Czech Republic, category: girls 14.

Among the older players, Dominik Veličkov was the best player. All players´ performance was absolutely great.

We would like to invite talented players to our chess group – every Monday, room P 16, lead by an experienced trainer Petr Herejk.

Vojtěch Hodl, OKB
