On 23rd October, students of the first and the second year of French seminat took part in the event called Rendez-vous à la française organized by the West Bohemian University with cooperation with French Embassy.

There were more than 150 high and university students from West Bohemian region. This Rendez-vous à la française AKA French Meeting was held for the second time. The main aim of this event is to show students how important French is in today´s world and how beneficial can the knowledge of French language be in job market. Hence, there were not only the representatives of Embassy but also the representatives of French companies and French business men. They all can help our students to get a good work and experience.

Participants of Erasmus + Programme and France year exchange studying programme also shared their experiences and tips and advices. There were also presentations of teaching French at University in Pilsen, introduction of French Alliance in Pilsen and presentation of the project “Interactive map of French”.

The first part of the programme was finished by representatives of business world, which was positively evaluated by our students. Mrs. Věra Fikarová, commercial representant of Preciosa company, Mr. Roman Dusil, CEO of Pierre-Farbe Czech and Slovak Republic, Milan Listík, managing director and a lawyer of Listik Legal shared their experiences with our students. Roman Dusil said: “I believe English is automatically expected while having a job interview. It is the knowledge of French which can differ you from the rest of the candidates and it matters.” Milan Listík adds: “For sure I am not the only lawyer speaking French in the Czech Republic, but the thing is that I lived for some time in France, I know the culture and I can speak without any accents and it can make my communication with French clients much easier and it can open the door there, where the others cannot enter!”

The next part of the programme was co called Business Forum. French companies in our region were introduced to our students, the companies such as: Safran, Forvia, Faiveley Transport, Wabtec, Bluelink, Oxymetal, Total Energies, Hutchinson, Komercni Banka and Czech-French Business Chamber. The students could find and arranged some part-time jobs or summer jobs.
