After two years long break because of Covid 19, we finally took part in an exchange visit to Germany on 25th-27th May 2022.
Our trip began with leaving our school with a small package and after two hours long bus ride, we arrived in Straubing. The local school, called Grammar school of Anton Bruckner, amazed us because of its size, amount of people studying there and a modern equipment used during lessons. When we met our partners, we were surprised but also shocked because they all grew up and changed. But luckily, the fear went gone and we adapted. We had lunch together, we explored the school, and then we together prepared our presentations about Straubing or Regensburg After that, we went to the city and we were given a worksheet with questions. We were searching for the answers around the city center. When we finished it, we went to play skittles. We really enjoyed it and sometimes, we also laughed at our performances. Then the individual program with our German partners started. Some of us went to a football match, some of us played board games etc.

The next day, we went by train to Regensburg.  We were exploring the city, presenting our projects, and we also had the opportunity to look into the St. Peter’s Cathedral, where we heard the boys´ choir. Then we visited a museum about last 200 years of Regensburg. Despite the language barrier and difficulty of the tour, it was great. Everyone was most excited about the festival Regensburg Dult. We tried several funfair attractions, that we will never forget („I am afraid of heights“ – Honza mentioned during an attraction where a person falls from 80 meters), and we also tasted local traditional food. After the festival, we went back to Straubing and had our own plan for the rest of the day.

We started our last day at the school where we were describing to younger students how does the exchange look. Then we visited a city tower with a very interesting history. After our tour, we had some time to buy souvenirs and to get some lunch.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to each other because we needed to go back to Pilsen. Of course, our farewell was full of tears and hugs.

In my opinion, the exchange was such an amazing experience. We made new friendships, met new people, improved in German and English and we also showed our courage because we weren´t scared to go alone to Germany without the possibility to use the Czech language.
